Why see a knee specialist rather than a general physio, chiropractor or sports therapist?
Most physiotherapists treat every joint in the body. I see knees all day, most days. In private practice, and in the NHS orthopaedic role where I request imaging, identify surgical candidates and list patients for surgery.
I recognise the knee problems that get missed. I know when a knee genuinely needs a surgeon rather than more rehab. I know how to rehabilitate properly.

Strength & Conditioning, not just treatment
Before I was a physiotherapist, I was a strength & conditioning coach, and I still am. I hold UKSCA accreditation, which is the industry standard and required for coaches to work in elite sports. I have worked with GB-level athletes, university scholars and professional football. Most knee problems are capacity problems: the knee is being asked to do more than it's currently built for.
So the core of what I offer is a specialist assessment followed by a structured strength plan. If the gym isn't your world, I can plan around your reality. However, the principle doesn't change: a stronger knee is a more reliable knee.
Location
The clinic is based inside the Bannatyne health club & spa. You don't need to be a club member to use the physio clinic. Plenty of free parking is available on site.
When you arrive, just take a seat in the downstairs waiting area. I will collect you from the waiting area.
I accept payments from the following insurers, please contact your insurer before booking as you will likely need a pre-authorisation code.

Freqently Asked Question
Do I need a GP referral to see a private knee physio in Bury St Edmunds?
No. You can book directly online. If you're claiming through insurance, your insurer may require a referral or pre-authorisation code, so check with them first.
How much does private knee physiotherapy cost in Bury St Edmunds?
An initial specialist knee assessment is £90 and follow-ups are £75. The UK median for a general physiotherapy assessment is around £74; specialist knee assessment with objective testing sits above that.
How long will my knee take to get better?
It depends on the diagnosis. Patellofemoral pain often improves meaningfully in 8–12 weeks. ACL reconstruction rehabilitation typically takes around 12 months to full return to sport. I work to criteria — what your knee can do — rather than to a calendar.
Do I need a scan before I come?
Usually not. Most knee diagnoses are made clinically from your history and examination. If imaging is needed, I'll tell you and explain how to get it.
Can you help after knee surgery?
Yes. Post-operative rehabilitation is a large part of what I do — ACL reconstruction, meniscal surgery, and total and partial knee replacement.
I have knee arthritis but I don't want to go to the gym. Can you still help?
Yes. Strengthening is the best-evidenced treatment for knee osteoarthritis, but it doesn't have to happen in a gym. We build something you'll actually do at home or wherever suits you.
What should I wear?
Shorts, or something you can roll above the knee. Trainers if you have them.
Do you treat people from outside Bury St Edmunds?
Yes — patients travel from Stowmarket, Newmarket, Thetford, Sudbury and Haverhill. The clinic is easily reached from the A14.
